The lawyer's message was submitted as part of the evidence filed by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu while seeking Chief Justice Maraga’s removal.
Wambugu’s petition, seen by PulseLive.co.ke, adversely mentions Prof Mutua and accuses him of engaging in unethical and illegal activities that were part of a conspiracy to overturn the will of the people.
Wambugu alleged that the controversial political columnist used the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) where he is a board member to provide technical support to the judiciary, in order to influence the ruling on the Presidential petition.
In a rather surprising move, the Nyeri Town MP submits a tweet posted by the US-based professor as part of the evidence to back his claims.
The tweet in contention was posted on the day the Supreme Court made the ruling and included a set of photos with NASA leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka which he captioned, "The journey to the proverbial land of Canaan continues. There's no stopping us now."
Other allegations in Wambugu's petition include the claim that Maraga worked with foreign entities to influence ruling as well as exercising undue influence on Supreme Court judges to rule in a manner in consistent with Kenya's judicial philosophy.
