IEBC cancels meeting with Raila at last minute
Confusion and anxiety has rocked the repeat polls after IEBC-NASA meeting aborts last minute.
The two sides were scheduled to hold talks on Thursday over the impasse brought about by NASA's demand that they will be no elections until senior officials at the IEBC including CEO Ezra Chiloba are sacked.
The IEBC on Thursday morning announced that the planned meeting will be rescheduled to a new date yet to be announced.
They did not however disclose the reason why the meeting was postponed.
The repeat presidential elections slated for October 17 has been cast into confusion and anxiety after NASA on Wednesday said it will not only participate in the fresh election if its demands are not met, but it will also not allow Jubilee to go to the polls alone.
Apart from Chiloba, other top officials that the Raila team want out include voter registration and electoral operations director Immaculate Kasait, head of legal department Praxedes Tororey, head of operations Betty Nyabuto and ICT director James Muhati and Manager Legal Department and Advisor to the CEO Moses Kipkogey.
The NASA leaders have claimed the officials were responsible for bungling the August 8 polls and accused them of being partisan.
On Tuesday, the NASA team led by Odinga walked out of an IEBC meeting, protesting a nine-page agenda and the absence of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto who were supposed to take part in the consultations.
However Ruto and senior Jubilee officials showed up at the same venue minutes after the NASA team left saying that they had delayed due to an important parliamentary group meeting they had.
