Police in Murang’a are holding a 47-year old woman for allegedly murdering her husband in cold blood.

Reports indicate that the woman hacked her husband to death using a machete before setting the body of the deceased on fire.

The woman was arrested while burying the corpse to clear evidence nd cover up for the murder.

The incident comes in the wake of concerns over the rising number of killings and brutal attacks reported across the country.

The key suspect identified as Naftali Kinuthia is in police custody with investigations ongoing.

Eldoret East DCI boss Ali Kingi disclosed details of Kinuthia's confession to killing the Moi University student, stating that Ms Wangechi had refused to return his calls after he sent her some money.

"The accused said he used to send the woman some money. The girl, according to the suspect, had told him that she was organizing her birthday party, which would happen soon.

"He said he sent her some money to arrange the event. Since then, the woman refused to pick his calls, said the suspect.

In yet another incident, police in Nyeri on Monday morning reported a 1 a.m. incident in Nyaribo area where a 24-year-old woman was killed by her lover.

The woman who is yet to be identified was allegedly hacked by a lover who is now being said to have been estranged from her.

Nyeri Central SCPC Paul Kuria told reporters that they were yet to capture the suspect who they believe fled soon after the murder.
