5 arrested after merciless killing of OCS and Chief in Chuka

Police have arrested five suspects in connection with the brutal murders of Chuka OCS Joseph Kinyua and area chief Japhet Mayau Mukengu.

Without revealing the identities of the suspects, police warned that the act is unacceptable and would not be tolerated by few who would like to spread fear and intimidation against law enforcement officers.

Police bosses further stated that operations to flush out more suspects were underway, assisted by GSU officers who have been deployed to the region.

OCS Kinyua was killed in front of a butchery belonging to the prime suspect in the murder of Chief Mukengu.

Murder investigation goes wrong

The OCS along with two of his officers were in Kamahindi area in Tharaka Nithi County for the investigation and had allegedly cornered the suspect at his business premises.

According to a police report, the suspect David Ikaaba and his workers picked up axes and hacked the OCS to death. Ikaaba was later shot dead by the officers.

The chief was attacked and killed by villagers who blamed him for a recent livestock theft incident.
