7 year old stabbed to death in Matungu

A standard one pupil has been stabbed by unknown people in Matungu amid the ongoing security operation launched in the area by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

The 7-year-old, who was a pupil at Bulimbo Star Academy was stabbed while at their home in Matungu.

On Sunday, four people who were linked to the killings of 20 people in the area were arrested. They were among politicians who were also nabbed for questioning in regards to the killings.

The government announced a major security operation in Kakamega County to flush out gangs that have terrorized residents over the last three months.

Touring the troubled region, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'í announced a security clean-up exercise in Matungu, saying the government will stick to the same style it used in Mt Elgon.

He told residents to prepare for a major security operation targeting criminal gangs raiding homes at night and viciously attacking villagers.

Dr Matiang'í said the government has deployed the paramilitary GSU to hunt down criminals following the brutal murder of 13 people in the last one month.
