Phoebe Akinyi Ogweno, the mother of twins in the dispute between Ida Odinga and her daughter in-law Lwam Getachew Bekele wants to join the case.
Battle for Fidel Odinga's estate takes new twist as Twins Mother makes demands
In an application filed, Ms Akinyi told the court she wants to be part of the case to protect the interest of her children.
“The intended interested party and her children have been left in between and owing to that, she seeks leave of the court to be enjoined as an interested party to clear the air and give her position on the same,” her lawyer John Swaka said.
Justice Aggrey Muchelule had directed Ida Odinga and Ms Bekele to return to court after conducting DNA tests on the twins.
Mrs Odinga moved to court saying she wanted to protect the interest of other beneficiaries of the estate of her late son Fidel and her other children.
Ms Bekele, the late Fidel’s widow, has denied the two twins saying her son is the only heir to the deceased’s estate.
According to Bekele, the objection by Ida and Winnie has been overtaken by events since it was filed outside stipulated timelines by law of succession.
Ida and her daughter Winnie Odinga want the High Court to revoke administration letters granted to Ms Bekele in January and instead allow them to control Fidel’s assets.
