Dennis Itumbi arrested over fake letter alleging an assassination attempt on Deputy President William Ruto

State House Director of Digital Affairs Dennis Itumbi has been arrested by detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Itumbi was picked up in Nairobi CBD and bungled into a car escorted by several DCI officers.

He is reportedly wanted for questioning over the controversial but fake letter that claimed to detail as assassination scheme on the DP.

A preliminary investigation by the DCI, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), indicated that the letter was allegedly authored by communication officials at the DP's office.

Although Itumbi'ss official title remains State House Director of Digital Affairs, he has over the past year largely worked the DP's office at Harambee Anex after President Uhuru Kenyatta's chief of staff Nzioka Waita re-organised communication management in the Presidency.
