Itumbi, who appeared in court on Thursday, was sent to Muthaiga Police Station where he will remain in custody as police continue investigations into his alleged involvement in circulation a controversial letter online.
The official is attached to Deputy President William Ruto's office and is said to have been involved in circulating the letter that caused suspicions of an alleged attempt on the DP's life.
The prosecution argued that police were yet to collect statements from 256 members of a WhatsApp group named "Tanga Tanga" which Itumbi is part of.
They had also asked for 14 days proposing to have the suspect held at Kamukunji Police Station.
July 10 set as date for next hearing
Itumbi's defense team revealed that he did not create the group and was also not an administrator of the group arguing that he should not be held on suspicions that do not implicate him directly.
Magistrate Zainabu Abdul struck a balance between the two teams setting Wednesday July 10, 2019 as the next date for the hearing of submissions.
