Deputy President William Ruto encountered a hostile crowd in Nyeri where he had visited as part of his tour of the Central region.

Trouble begun when supporters of the pro-President Uhuru Kenyatta Nyeri Town MP Kimani Ngunjiri clashed those who were attending the DP's rally.

Matters escalated at Rurii Stadium in Mathioya where a man pushed through the crowd and tried to attack the DP.

The DP's security detail acted promptly to foil the attempt and DP was rushed back to his car unharmed.

DP Ruto further took issue with the Nyeri Town MP who attended his meeting with his rowdy supporters.
