Deputy President William Ruto is in mourning following the death of Anthony Kariuki who was one of the senior officials in his office.

Taking to Twitter, DP Ruto remembered the deceased as a sharp, dependable, industrious, committed and creative person, who also had a positive attitude.

Anthony was knocked off by a speeding vehicle along Outering Road on Friday night at around 10PM.

"My heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the family, colleagues and friends of my staff member Anthony Kariuki.

"I take comfort in knowing that Kariuki is now resting in the arms of our Lord. Rest In Peace," the DP wrote on Twitter.

“We will miss his hunger and stamina for knowledge, punctuality, team spirit and orientation to detail.” Added the statement.

The accident happened at Donholm near Shell petrol station.

An eyewitness who was at the scene of the accident confirmed to Pulselive.co.ke that he died on the spot after being hit be a speeding vehicle on the express lane of the road that is turing out to be one of the most dangerous roads in the country.

Graphic photos captured at the scene of the accident by the witness who arrived at the scene shortly after the accident show the body of the deceased by the roadside in a pool of blood.
