Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at the security bosses suggesting that they have politicized the issue of security.
While speaking during a meeting with Gusii leaders, the DP asked Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to focus on his mandate.
Pointing out the recent Laikipia skirmishes, the DP assessed that the clashes are an indicator of lapses in the management of security in the country.
"Police should be run impartially; the Inspector General should avoid the politicization of security work in Kenya. The moment citizens are not sure that security will be provided without political considerations then ever citizen will step forward and support the security apparatus in Kenya. What is happening in Laikipia is an embarrassment for the security apparatus in Kenya, they should up their game.
"Police should strive to inspire confidence in Kenyans that they will be served equally, their political affiliations notwithstanding," Dr Ruto stated.
