Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday quietly registered for the Huduma Namba in Nairobi’s Lang’ata area.
Unlike President Uhuru Kenyatta, ODM Leader Raila Odinga, and Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, the DP’s registration was without the public relations fanfare that has characterized other officials’ participation.
Ruto queued at a registration booth, accompanied by members of his family and area MP Nixon Korir.
By the time of publishing this story, the DP’s media team had not uploaded photos or quotes made by Ruto during the exercise in Lang’ata.
The DP had last week skipped a mass registration roll out of the Huduma Namba in Kakamega prompting speculation on whether he supported the initiative.
Francis Atwoli
On Saturday, Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli challenged Ruto to publicly state his position on the national registration exercise.
Atwoli said the DP’s supporters in the Rift Valley were hesitating in participating in the Huduma Namba roll out.
The Tangatanga team has not told people to get Huduma Namba. Rift Valley residents say they are waiting for Ruto to give them the go ahead. Let him declare his stand on this Huduma Namba. If he doesn't like it he should come out and tell us why,” Atwoli stated.
