Driver Raphael Papaya Torome charged for threatening Jubilee MP

Jubilee nominated MP David Ole Sankok’s former driver has been charged for sending him threatening messages.

In a report by Citizen, the driver known as Raphael Papaya Torome was charged for demanding property by written threats at the Milimani Court, after he was allegedly fired without the right procedure being followed.

Mr Torome had been charged on March 3, with intent to extort money from the nominated MP. He was accused of sending threatening messages of harm to Sankok and his family if his demands for money were not met.

The MP’s former driver, however, denied the allegations and was released by Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku on a Sh80, 000 cash bail with an alternative of Sh100, 000 bond.

The case will be mentioned on April 26.

Sankok

David Ole Sankok, prior to becoming a nominated Member of Parliament was the Chairperson of the National Council of Persons Living with Disability.

He has made a name for himself in Kenya for his unique dress code, which has him wearing green coloured suits with a blend of red, white and black at all times, regardless of where and when.
