Security personnel had to be called in to rescue a top official from the ODM National Elections Board (NEB)who was charged with the task of issuing nomination certificates to winners of the just concluded party nominations from the Western region counties.
The angry supporters demanded an explanation as to why only his certificate had gone missing and not the others.
Meeting abandoned
ODM Deputy party leader and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who was in charge of the exercise was forced to call off the meeting as a result of the chaos.
Oparanya later explained to the rowdy youth that Ojaamong was not issued with the certificate since the document was being backdated.
“His certificate was prepared but it had a wrong date that is why it’s not here,” Oparanya said.
Ojaamong won a chaotic ODM gubernatorial primaries held last month garnering 92,358 votes against his bitter rival Funyula MP Paul Otuoma’s 63,752 votes.
