How Raila is using Ruto to destroy NASA - Mutahi Ngunyi

Speculations are rife on the recent decision by Isaac Ruto to join NASA as the fifth principal.

In an opinion piece titled ‘The NASA Lies. Jubilee Chaos. What Next?’ Prof Ngunyi states that Ruto’s shift is a political ploy by ODM leader Raila Odinga to silence and render his other three principals – Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula – powerless.

The political scientist mentions that it did not make sense to recruit the Bomet Governor, who had zero votes to bring in the Alliance.

For this reason, the analyst opined that the former Prime Minister had realised that the three principals were conspiring against him (Odinga), in a bid to kick him out of the Presidential bid.

Ngunyi noted that with Ruto on Odinga's side it would be easy to manipulate NASA.

“This week a Rift Valley politician with zero votes was recruited as the fifth NASA principals. In our view, Raila discovered that Kalonzo Mudavadi and Wetangula were conspiring against him and so he hatched the idea of expanding the number of NASA Principals in order to dilute their influence.

“The more the NASA co-principals the stronger Raila becomes and the weaker Kalonzo and Mudavadi become. And because Isaac Ruto does not want to become a NASA presidential candidate he was just rented to dilute the influence of Kalonzo and Mudavadi period!” Ngunyi stated.

The Professor highlighted that NASA's Thursday announcement of a flagbearer could just be ‘a big fat lie adding that they may not be aware of where they were going’.

Ngunyi has been on record emphasising that Kalonzo would be the best candidate for the NASA team while Odinga would simply cause havoc in the country.

Last week, NASA leaders stated that they will be finally announcing their Presidential candidate on 27 April 2017.
