The bodyguard was shot and injured by another one attached to Migori Governor Okoth Obado.Trouble began when Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Senator Anyang Nyong'o and Governor Hassan Joho convened a meeting at posta grounds, Migori County against the orders of Governor Okoth.
The Migori governor is said to have stormed the meeting accompanied by youth who caused chaos throwing the whole forum into a limbo.Okoth's bodyguards fired in the air several times as the residents, as well as the ODM leaders, scampered for safety.Joho was whisked to safety by his bodyguards as well as Suna East MP and senator Nyong'o, who later condemned the incident. Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir later claimed: "This was an assassination attempt. They were after Joho. Our car was shot at three times."
Prior to Joho's arrival, ODM offices in Migori County were torched by unknown individuals.Governor Okoth is also said to have warned ODM leaders that he would not allow them to hold the rally in the area.
Meanwhile, Joho has now claimed that the bullet which hit his bodyguard was meant for him alleging it was an assassination attempt.
“This was an assassination attempt. I was the target, look at my vehicle, it will demonstrate to you what happened in Migori today” Joho stated.
In the recent past, Joho’s rallies have ended in chaos or police interrupted stating that they had not been given prior notice.
