Kalonzo to leave NASA – Wiper announces

The Wiper Party has announced that Kalonzo Musyoka will leave the National super Alliance (NASA) if...

Opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Raila Odinga and Moses Wetang'ula.

Speaking on Tuesday, Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze, who sits on NASA’s National coordinating committee, stated that if Kalonzo is not made the presidential candidate, “NASA is dead”.

“So unless the presidential candidate, the flagbearer, is Kalonzo, I don't see us moving anywhere,” Nyenze told a local daily.

The legislator said that ODM leader Raila Odinga must adhere to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) they signed with Kalonzo in 2013.

According to the MOU signed, Odinga was to be a one term President, while in 2017 the former Prime Minister would support Kalonzo.

The Kitui West MP surprisingly alleged that CORD’s transformation into NASA was a plot to kill the MoU and deny the Wiper party leaders his rightful run to the State House.

“Yeah, and a member of ODM in the Coordinating Committee said that was buried with the death of Cord. So now, what Wiper has seen is that the change of name to NASA was for us to not to lay any claim and kill that MoU, which people learnt about and there is no way they are going to accept,” Nyenze was quoted by the Star.

The latests announcement by Wiper could break NASA, which has barely lasted three months since its formation. Despite the show of unity NASA principals, it has now been discovered that there major differences within the alliance.

On Monday, Kalonzo met Ukambani leaders who vowed to back his presidential bid.  Among them included Charity Ngilu, Kivutha Kibwana and CCU party leader Wavinya Ndeti.
