Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko is set to present his nomination papers to Uhuru Kenyatta led Jubilee party even as he earlier accused the party of plotting his ouster for the gubernatorial seat for Nairobi through the party.

The deadline for submission of papers is due today Friday.

Earlier, Sonko expressed frustration after the CID denied him a certificate of good conduct, one of the requirements for nominations. So far he has clinched the documents which the flamboyant senator brandished all over on his social media accounts.

Sonko told journalists earlier that he was planning to sue the party for unfair treatment, shortly after the gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth presented his papers on Wednesday, causing panic for Sonko.

"Itabidi niende kortini kwa sababu niko na leaving na KCSE certificates. Sijui ni karata gani hawa watu wanacheza. Wanasema sikumaliza form four na nilmaliza," he told a local daily via phone.

The Senator said he studied at Kwale High School and that his schoolmates are "all over".

"My former teachers are still at the school," he said, adding Tana River county's education officer was his headmaster.

Lock out

Jubilee Party communications director denied the allegations of a plan to lock Sonko out of the nominations. The director, Albert Memusi, said there was "no plan whatsoever" and that the Senator had not presented his papers.

"Tomorrow [today] is the final day and so far I have not seen Sonko's papers being brought here. so I don't think it is right for anyone to say he has been locked out," he told the press.

He added: "That is not us, it is the CID. If he needed more time he should have said so."

Memusi argued that the Jubilee party was trying to beat the IEBC deadline of Sunday this week.

"We are supposed to submit the list by Sunday. So if he comes after tomorrow that will put us in a situation that would be out of our control. We have not seen his documents.. let him show us the documents," he said.

The August 8 election has split Nairobi politicians into two factions. ‘Team Nairobi’ is made up of Sonko, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja (who bowed out of the race for gubernatorial race), former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru and DennisWaweru of Dagoretti South.

The team has not been able to get a candidate to unseat Kidero. Waweru said he was still consulting on the position to vie for but that he will present his papers before deadline.

Nothing to offer

Kenneth told Sonko off on March 5 for "epic hooliganism" and "gangster politics" and added that they were not in the same competition.

"We are different. I offer leadership, he offers hooliganism; I offer a way forward, what he offers is cheerleading to groups of gangs and encouraging gangs," he said.

He added: "I went through some school, perhaps some school went through him. But we should not score own goals. We should score goals on the other side."
