Earlier this month, Musician Charles Kanyi aka Jaguar, declared he will vie for Starehe MP in the August 8 general elections.

He recently resigned from his position as a director at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) which he had served for around two years.

The ‘Kioo’ and ‘Kigeugeu’ is set to face it off against the incumbent Maina Kamanda, activist Boniface Mwangi and city businessman Steve Mbogo.

2. Boniface Mwangi – Starehe (MP)

Renowned activist Boniface Mwangi late last year announced his entry into politics by expressing interest in Starehe Parliamentary seat in the August elections.

Mwangi, an avowed critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, will vie for Starehe MP on an Ukweli Party ticket which he is the Chairman and has already stepped down from the PAWA 254 leadership in January.

P-Unit King pin Francis Hamisi aka Daktari alias Frasha has declared his interest of running for an MCA post back at his home town Athi River come August 8 2017.

Frasha will be joining the list of other celebrities who have declared their interest of joining the political world.

”I have been thinking and praying that the good lord gives me the strength to take on the challenge to bring better leadership to my home town. And today I want to start a journey with the trust of God’s guidance and the power of the vote that I will become the next M.C.A Athi-River Township so go out and get registered. Celebrated disc jockey and music entrepreneur Kabochi Gakau aka DJ Kaytrixx has joined the murky waters of politics.

“In Mikindani, many youth have immense talents but no amount of nurturing, or facilities, is available. There are numerous problems in sectors like water, garbage, security and infrastructure.

Drugs use and abuse is also a huge challenge. It therefore requires radical changes and I believe people of Mikindani will support me in bringing the change we so desperately need,” he is quoted as saying.
