A 78-year-old man on Thursday received a surprise gift from a Jubilee politician, days after announcing that he will sacrifice all his wealth to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection.

Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi stated that he will give Mr Zablon Mukiira Sh100,000 for the passionate sacrifice he was making.

Murungi added that he did not want to see Mukiira lose his hard earned wealth, hence, he would support his Kenyatta's campaigns in the County.

“I want to support him so that he does not sell his property. I will give him Sh100,000 to facilitate the campaign he is planning to roll out,” Murungi who is eying the Meru Gubernatorial seat said.

The former Mau Mau fighter had earlier stated that he would sell a bull, three sheep and eventually a Sh10 million plot in order to get money to reach out to areas in Meru during the mega campaigns.

According to Mukiira he was afraid that some people would not vote for Kenyatta, therefore, he vowed to take it upon himself to inform his village men what the Jubilee Government had done.

“I will sell my only bull at Sh40, 000 and three sheep at 25,000 to campaign for the President because I feel some people don’t want to vote for him.

“I believe in his leadership because he has done a lot for us in the last five years. I will move from village to village to tell people what the Jubilee Government has done.”

Murungi divulged that he was challenged at the extend Mukiira was ready to go in order to see President Kenyatta reelected.

“We need more Meru people to have the same commitment as Mr. Mukiira,” the Meru Senator mentioned.

Speaking to a local daily Mr. Murungi added that Jubilee politicians in Meru were starting campaigns to drum support for Mr. Kenyatta.
