After being congratulated by former USA President Barack Obama, World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has requested to meet with the ex -US Head of State.

In a tweet responding to Obama's congratulatory message after breaking 2-hour marathon barrier, in Vienna, Austria, Kipchoge thanked the former USA President for being an inspiration to him.

"Dear Mr. Obama, Thank you for your special words. In life we hope to inspire others. Thank you for inspiring me," Kipchoge said.

"It would be my greatest honor if we could meet, and discuss how we can make this world a running world. As a running world is a peaceful world," he added.

Obama on Sunday 13 October congratulated Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge after he became the first man to run a marathon under two hours.

In his message, Obama described Eliud as a ‘remarkable example of humanity’s ability to endure’ after the historic run.
