Amidst speculation that he is set to reap millions from his victory at the INEOS 1:59 challenge, celebrated marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge has delved into the monetary aspect of his conquest which was celebrated across the globe on Saturday, 12 October 2019.

Kipchoge who crossed the finish line in a record time of 1:59:40.

The widely-publicized event was preceded by pomp and color, with a private jet availed to take the award-winning athlete to Vienna for the ultimate feat.

Corporates were largely involved in arranging the event, benefitting immensely from the publicity that came with it in deals estimated to be worth hundreds of millions.

When asked how much he would gain from, Kipchoge who was focused on the victory that lay ahead declined to be drawn into the discussions, maintaining that money was not his primary interest in the challenge.

“Money is not important. I’m running to make history, but if you have a price, you can give me,” Kipchoge responded when asked how much he would make out of the challenge shortly before he stunned the world.

“If I break the barrier, I will be a happy person because I will inspire millions of our generation.” He added.
