Kakamega county government has pledged to help 28-year-old Everlyne Namukhula who delivered quintuplets.

Health CEC Racheal Okumu told reporters that the mother will be connected with programmes initiated by the county government to assist her in addition to being enrolled to National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).

"The Navakholo Sub county referral hospital is in good condition to handle complex delivery issues and programmes have been put in place by the county government to help the mother and her children," Ms Okumu stated.

It's a blessing from God

Ms Namukhula and her husband Herbert Nabwire were elated at the arrival of their quintuplets terming it as a blessing.

The two have four other children, 2 of who are twins. They have now become parents to nine healthy children.

"I am happy and I thank God for blessing me with five children at once. We have many people who admire to have children but they are unable to get due to health challenges," Namukhula stated.

Her husband added: "We now have nine children and I treat all of them as a blessing from God.

"My wish is for the county government to enroll the mother and the children in programmes that will help cater for their nutritional needs since I have hearing challenge and I do not have a stable job," he stated.

Namukhula expected to have triplets following an earlier ultrasound and was surprised when the doctors told her that she was having five instead. She delivered three girls and two boys.
