[VIDEO] Paul Kobia locked up by police for assault and abducting a Congolese national in gun drama
Paul Kobia shot in the air to scare security and forced his way into an apartment. He allegedly lent the Congolese national Sh40 million in exchange for gold.
The injured Congolese national was rushed hospital in Nairobi where he is nursing the wounds. Kobia, however, told police that he only went to claim his Sh40 million from assaulted. He allegedly lent the Congolese national money in exchange for gold.
Witnesses at the scene, Super Lodge along Kindaruma Road in Kilimani, told the press that the Kobia team arrived at about 10pm where the Congolese man, only identified as Londale stays and forced their way in.
“They then forced him into their car while beating him up and shouting they needed their money,” witnesses recounted.
Shot in the air
The businessman allegedly fired in the air twice after guards at the apartment attempted to block his forceful entry. Police were alerted over the ugly situation, rushing their way to nab the accused. The accused were chased up to Riverside area where the arrests were made, a few minutes later.
Nairobi Area Police boss Japheth Koome said they intended to present Kobia and his accomplices in court and ask for more time as investigations into the incident continue. Police have confiscated Kobia’s firearm.
“He claims the Congolese has his money but we are concerned with the manner in which he conducted himself,” he said.
In the meantime, other close friends to Kobia and Londale said there were claims of love triangle that led to the drama. Kobia has in the past been involved in gold business.
In 2015, Kobia linked himself with the death of Fidel Odinga, son of opposition chief Raila Odinga.
Kobia later denied the claims published on social media sites and some newspapers are "false and malicious".
The businessman with interests in gold is a licensed firearm holder who once shot a motorist on Limuru road, prompting the withdrawal of his firearm licence.
