Smoke was on Tuesday seen rising from a section of Ngong Forest at Karinde, near Karen residential estate.
Motorists alerted Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and within an hour the fire department reported to the scene to attempt to put out the fire.
Kenya Forest Service battling forest fires
The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) had just moments earlier combated a fire at the Thogoto Forest in Kiambu County.
KFS Commandant Alex Lemorkoko was at hand at the Thogoto forest where the county government also provided a fire engine to assist in putting out the fire.
KFS explained that the prevailing high temperatures are to blame for the spontaneous fires that have been experienced in a number of forests in Kenya.
"The prevailing dry spell and windy conditions are a challenge to fighting forest fires," one of their statements read in part.
