Rachel Ruto is no stranger to making bold yet elegant fashion statements, but during the state visit of the Dutch royals on March 18, 2025, it wasn’t just her outfit that stood out—it was her shoes. The Kenyan First Lady stepped out in a pair of brown suede block heels adorned with a gold emblem.

The Friends of Jubilee Foundation have ensured that the affair is strictly a reservation-only dinner.

In adverts circulating in various media channels, the foundation asks Jubilee Party members to attend the dinner and help raise funds, if the future of Kenya under President Kenyatta is to be guaranteed.

“The foundation invites you to support the future of Kenya at a dinner with President Uhuru. Come let us put our efforts together for our beloved nation,” the advert reads in part.

In March, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero raised more than Sh200 million during a fund-raising dinner for his re-election campaign.

About 300 people, including politicians and business people, attended the invite-only event at Nairobi Club.

In 2007, retired President Mwai Kibaki fund-raised for his re-election at a Sh1 million ($10,000) per plate dinner.

Political parties maintain that their campaign finances are generated mainly from party activities like membership fees, monthly contributions by elected leaders, fund-raising and donations from well-wishers and supporters.
