Fuel tanker overturns on Thika Superhighway causing traffic snarl up at Kenyatta University

A fuel tanker on Monday overturned at Ndaragu area along the outbound lane near Kenyatta University on the Thika Superhighway.

The tanker overturned and horizontally blocked the lane causing a major traffic snarl up along the busy highway.

Motorists heading to Ruiru, Juja and Thika are advised to use the service lane as traffic is said to have built up from Githurai 45.

Images shared on the scene showed members of the public, mostly bodaboda riders collecting oil that had spilled along the road despite the risk to their lives.

The tanker was said to have been carrying petrol. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes as the tanker was yet to be removed from the scene.
