Four people killed in Garissa attack

Four people were have been killed after a vehicle they were travelling in ran over an Improvised Explosive Device in border town of Kulan in Garissa County.

The four died on the spot when the vehicle belonging to ADESO, a non-governmental organization working in Somalia, hit the device. One person survived the attack but sustained serious injuries.

Confirming the incident, Daadab Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner, Harun Kamau, said that the deceased were travelling to Dhoble when the unfortunate incident occurred.

"The information we have is still scanty at the moment but all I can tell you is that the vehicle hit an IED and we have already sent a rescue team to the area,” he said.

Police have launched a manhunt for the attackers although no arrests have been made so far.

The incident comes in the wake of a series of attacks involving IEDs targeting government and humanitarian motorcades in the region.

Two weeks ago, three Administration Police were killed in between Kulan and Dadaab in an IED attack.

A week earlier, about three police officers and four civilians were killed in similar incidents that happened a day apart, around the same place.

Whereas just last Wednesday, a teacher was killed when suspected Al-Shabaab gunmen raided Fafi centre in Fafi Ward Garissa County.
