A vehicle branded with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s images has been impounded by the Anti-narcotics police unit during an operation in the county.
The operation also conducted in Kilifi County saw seven suspected drug traffickers apprehended.
Confirming the reports, Coast regional police boss Larry Kieng divulged that the Joho-branded vehicle was among seven other cars impounded during the Monday swoop.
"We have also seized seven Toyota vehicles. We are yet to establish the value of the drug but it will be subjected to a test at our chemist," Mr Kieng was quoted by the Nation.
The officers seized a half a kilo of heroin, 10,00USD and a whopping Sh4.5 million. Among those apprehended included a woman and Ndechumia Bilali Kimali who had other drug trafficking cases in court.
Kieng firmly stated that the police will continue fighting the vice in the region.
"We will continue dealing with these people and ensure we flush them away. We are not going to relent in this war. We are committed to this fight,” the police boss assured.
The suspected will appear before the court on Friday as per Senior Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache ruling.
