Mama Ida Odinga on Tuesday joined the Embrace; Women Building Bridges initiative launched by Governor Anne Waiguru and other women in politics.

Mama Ida was seen at the high table seated beside Governor Waiguru during the Embrace pre-convention that was co-chaired between the three women governors in Kenya and Public Service CS Prof. Margaret Kobia.

"We as the women leaders of Kenya lent our voice to the need for all Kenyans to come together and embrace building bridges as one nation," Governor Waiguru stated.

Women politicians embraced for mothers and children

While launching the initiative in January, women politicians noted that those who are most affected by political instability are women and children.

"Our mothers endured a lot, to see us get the gains we enjoy today. We still have a long way to go.

"We must say no to laws and policies that bind us. We must be ready to deconstruct such expectations. We must be present and our presence must be felt," Governor Waiguru reiterated on Tuesday.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja also attended and spoke at the event, emphasizing his support for the Building Bridges Initiative pioneered by President Uhuru Kenyatta and special AU envoy Raila Odinga.
