IEBC Responds After ODM vowed to storm their offices Today

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has responded to allegations of plotting to rig the Kibra by-electionafter by ODM Party.

On Wednesday, IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati issued a statement saying that the full Kibra Constituency voter register will be made public in the next seven days.

"The commission wish to assure Kibra Constituents and the country at large that a complete register of voters will be ready by the time of the by-election," the statement read in part.

Chebukati stated that Kibra had new number of voters registering and other transferring and the commission had been working on the process to facilitate the by-election.

IEBC said that the updated register is undergoing inspection and certification process.

ODM threatens to stage protest

ODM had renewed its assault on IEBC, accusing it of plotting to rig the Kibra by-election.

Party officials who addressed a presser on Tuesday claimed that there was a plot to rig the forthcoming by-election by doctoring the voters register.

ODM further accused IEBC of hindering its efforts to get an updated voter register for the constituency for scrutiny ahead of the November 7 poll.

With three weeks to the by-election and there being no commitment by the commission to provide the updated voters register as requested by the party," National Assembly Whip Junet Mohammed said.

"We are questioning the motive behind the hide and seek games we are being subjected to,” he added.
