One of the Al Shabaab terrorists who planned and executed the Dusit Hotel attack had been living a fairly comfortable life in a bungalow in Guango estate, Kiambu county.

Ali Salim Gichunge lived with his girlfriend Violet Kemunto Omwoyo, who had on Monday put up a post on a popular Facebook, seeking to sell household items as an emergency.

The post showed a couple who had a largely comfortable life with access to household items of a middle-class family.

They had a 49-inch television which they planned to sell at Sh55,000; a 7-seater couch being discarded at Sh75,000; and a double-door fridge going for Sh30,000.

Other items included a 28-litre oven microwave which they planned to sell at Sh15,000; bed and mattress being sold at Sh15,000; and a Sh6,000 TV stand.

The post was made through a pseudo name, Junior Red, indicated that the seller was relocating from Nairobi in the course of the week – perhaps aware of the suicide mission the terrorist was to undertake on Tuesday.

It also included shoes, male loafers and female designer heels.
