ODM Party Director of Elections Junet Mohamed blamed the National Treasury for failing to disburse funds meant to finance party operations.
Junet Mohammed blames CS Rotich for ODM's woes
ODM struggling
According to the Suna East Member of Parliament, the failure by the Treasury to release funds had put ODM party in a tough position as it's struggling to foot expenses.
Reports indicated that ODM party has scheduled grassroots elections but it is unable to foot the expenses of the exercise due to the financial woes crippling the party.
Junet stated: “According to the law, political parties have a right to get a share of the national budget. Therefore the government has no right to deny parties that deserve the share of the budget.”
Telling of CS Rotich
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna echoed Mr Mohamed's remarks and even told of the treasury CS Henry Rotich for failing to adhere to the Law.
“What we want is to have all our monies disbursed in totality. All our operations have stalled due to lack of finances,” Sifuna stated.
The Political Parties Fund sets an allocation of not less than 0.3 per cent of national revenues collected must be allocated to political parties.
Computation of a party’s performance is based on the total votes garnered in the preceding election of the president, members of parliament, county governors, and members of county assemblies.
