KDF soldier kills 3 family members in early morning shootings

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier early on Tuesday morning opened fire at three of his family members before turning the gun on himself in Jua Kali area, Turbo Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

Reports indicate that fellow officers were woken up by gun shots and were unable to apprehend the suspect before he committed suicide.

Eldoret West OCPD Zachary Bitok confirmed the incident adding that investigations were underway.

"This morning at around 5 a.m officers from the Jua Kali police patrol base were woken up by gunshots and o arriving at the scene found four people dead - two females and two males.

"We are at the moment doing investigations and we will be able to brief the media on what we find," he stated.

The police boss added that the shootings took place in two homesteads, one belonging to the aunt of the rogue officer and the other belonging to his uncle.

A report by Citizen Digital conveyed that the soldier allegedly traveled from Gilgil on Monday night before committing the crime.

The officer who is attached to the military intelligence department is also said to have used a government vehicle to travel to Turbo.
