Deputy Governor accused of assaulting domestic worker

Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi recorded a statement with detectives on Tuesday.

The deputy governor recorded a statement for allegedly assaulting his female domestic worker in December 2019.

Maangi has dismissed his summons by police over claims that he assaulted one his workers as political, adding that he will not be intimidated.

On Monday, the Kisii DG stated that the summons requiring him to appear before police were issued by the Kisii County Police Commander Jazebel Munene.

Maangi has however appointed accusing fingers on his political detractors saying they are behind the malicious allegations.

"I am prepared to face my political competitors. No form of intimidation nor interference will delay my political quest,” Maangi said.

"I will honour the summons and will appear before police tomorrow at 10 am. Am a law-abiding citizen and couldn't want to undermine the work of our police force," he continued.

Maangi further stated that he will later after recording the statement on Tuesday morning name the individuals behind a scheme to poison him.
