The takedown which happened on Friday at Stoni Athi, Kajiado County saw 25,070 bottles of beer, 102,004 bottles of wine, 82,538 spirit bottles and 104,786 bottles of juice destroyed.
In 2018, KRA destroyed illicit brew with an estimated value of Ksh15 million as an alarm was raised over an upsurge of condemned alcohol being smuggled into Kenya through non-gazetted routes along the Kenya-Uganda and the Kenya-Tanzania borders.
Intensified patrol
About 9,300 litres of spirits which lacked requisite stamps from the tax collector and the Kenya Bureau of Standards was destroyed.
The taxman then announced that it had intensified patrols and deployed sniffer dogs and surveillance cameras at the border points of Busia and Malaba.
In a separate incident in Dandora Nairobi, several cartons of fake illicit gin impounded after DCI officers raided an illegal liquor manufacturing firm.
During the raid, a loaded van with fake KRA and KEBS stickers, some chemicals packaging bottles and seals were also recovered.
Other items recovered during the rade included over 177 cartons packed with illicit Spirit Brands and several 250L drums of suspected ethanol recovered.
