Education CS Amina Mohamed on Friday said the four pupils who were caught up in exam cheating would sit their papers in 2018 in the interest of saving them from losing time.
Out of the 1,052,364 pupils, only 4 candidates had their exams cancelled.
According to the existing regulations for national exams, cheating students are supposed to be ban from seating any KNEC exams for three consecutive years.

Mohamed said that the decision did not amount to change of policy but was informed by the need to give the pupils a second chance
“We are following direction from the KNEC chairman (Prof George Magoha) who tells us it is possible to give an opportunity to these young candidates to sit for their exams next year so that they don’t so much time,” Mohamed said.
The punitive guidelines on exam cheating were first introduced by Prof Jacob Kaimenyi during his term as Education CS in 2013.
