"Grow Up" Ruto to Babu Owino

Embakasi MP Babu Owino has received...

In a country where the young people have systemically been undermined, it was a win for all of us who fall in the youth category. Unfortunately, Owino has squandered this prime opportunity.

I feel compelled to offer my two cents to this cantankerous character who has worked tirelessly to create a bad name for the Kenyan youth.

I speak on behalf of many Kenyans, from across the political divide, who were surprised to see the little man force his way at a press conference where top NASA leaders were addressing the serious matter of national elections.

The speed at which television cameras moved away from Babu remains a laughable albeit sad memory.

One would have hoped that the antics manifestation of excitement from a politician fresh from winning an election. Sadly, Babu has continued to exhibit immaturity inconsistent with the character of an honorable member of parliament.

The recent call for KCSE exams to be administered in takeaway format should serve as a point of retrospect for the Embakasi East legislator.

His constituents did not send him to plays around with the bible or shout tibim in the August house. They sent him to Parliament so that he can represent and legislate on issues that will pull them out of poverty.

I would have asked Babu to behave like an intellectual given his long history in student leadership but I will restrict myself to a modest request. Please sir, grow up!
