The Londiani crash that claimed nine lives left many in shock, but one man miraculously survived.
Daniel Osieko, a biology teacher, church leader, and Christian Union patron at his school, was the sole survivor of the tragic accident.
He shared his harrowing experience of the moments leading up to and after the crash, crediting his survival to divine intervention.
Daniel’s miraculous survival in Londiani accident
Daniel Osieko was one of the passengers in a matatu involved the fatal accident on the Londiani-Muhoroni highway.
A viral video captured him emerging from the wreckage, while nine others, including the matatu driver, tragically lost their lives.
“I was just looking at my phone, seated between the driver and the passenger next to the door,” he said.
“Suddenly, this truck appeared, and it felt like it was losing control. Then, as our matatu driver was trying to escape a pothole, the truck rammed into us, and all I remember was hearing this loud bang,” he recounted in during an interview with TUKO.
Scenes from Londiani accident
Daniel vividly recalled the horrific scene immediately after the crash. He described seeing the driver perish upon impact with the steering wheel and glimpsed the lifeless bodies of his fellow passengers, along with others who were severely injured. Overwhelmed by the trauma, Daniel lost consciousness.
“I fell unconscious, and I only woke up when the now-viral video was taken by the good Samaritans who found me in the wreckage,” he said. “I could not understand what was happening, but indeed, that day I saw the hand of God.”
Following the accident, Daniel was taken to a hospital in Muhoroni, where he received treatment for minor injuries. He was also referred for a CT scan to check if his brain had been affected by the crash. Fortunately, the scan showed no damage, and Daniel has since been recovering well.
“My brain is perfect, and I am doing so well. God saved me. I am thankful to Him.” he shared.
In reflecting on the accident, Daniel mentioned that he had been on a preaching mission just days before. He believes that the crash might have been a counter-attack against the missionary work he was doing.
As a church leader, Daniel’s faith has been strengthened by his survival, and he remains grateful for what he views as divine protection.
