Details of Joho's trip to Estonia

The Sultan is out of Mombasa.

Taking the message on twitter in which he is seen in a high profile meeting, the ODM Deputy leader said that the invitation had been sent to him through Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adding that the tour is purely meant to strengthen the ties with Mombasa County.

“Upon official invitation from the Republic of Estonia through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I am delighted and honored to begin a two day official visit which seeks to further strengthen the existing cordial relations between the people of Estonia and the people of Mombasa,” the governor said.

He added: “My visit also seeks to fortify the relationship to tangible cooperation through technology and technical skills exchange to further improve the County's business processes, improve revenue collection systems & mainstream efficiency and accountability through advanced automation.”

He further explained that his intention was to find solutions to the challenges facing Mombasa County, after a recent spat by local who accused him of failing to clean up the city, owing to the huge heaps of garbage in the coastal town.

“While in Estonia the intention now is also to find sustainable solutions to pressing issues in Mombasa, that it has successfully handled, like a thriving business landscape, a clean environment and most importantly citizens participation in governance,” the governor said.

This could be the first time the governor is making a public appearance, but on a development agenda, rather a political one, after he penned a letter to the Wiper deputy party leader Farah Maalim in which he ostensibly criticised his continued attack on the unity of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition on Wednesday.
