Igathe’s message as he takes up new role at Equity

Igathe is one happy man

Mr. Igathe could not hide his joy as Equity Bank confirmed his appointment, months after resigning from his role as Nairobi Deputy Governor.

"Am lucky and thrilled to join an outstanding and exceptional team of professionals at the iconic Equity Group Holdings Plc. renowned for delivery of socio-economic prosperity in Africa.

"The group is powered by a peerless economic engine, fueled by financial technology, social impact investment & inclusive, customer-focused financial services," he said.

The ex-Nairobi deputy governor said that he was focused on seeing the Bank grow beyond borders through the experience he has in working for various big organizations.

"I am therefore glad to offer my networks and experience, in the Eastern Africa private sector scene, to grow the Equity brand in the corporate segment of the market," he said.

The former Vivo boss was appointed alongside Julius Kayoboke, who is now the Group Director in charge of Customer Experience and Product Management.

Kaboyoke previously worked as the Marketing Director of Heineken in Rwanda

Equity CEO James Mwangi hailed praises on Mr. Igathe stating: "He is a highly accomplished corporate executive, seasoned in overseeing large commercial enterprises in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector and with a remarkable track record of success in spearheading business growth and product development.”
