Thika Road users to enjoy new commuter train starting next week

The train will depart at 0900Hrs.

The plan which kicks off on Monday, April 16, the Authority has said, is part of the plan to decongest the Nairobi Business District (CBD).

“As part of our efforts by the government to de-congest the Nairobi Central Business District, Kenya Railways Authority is introducing a new commuter train service to ply the Kahawa route. This service will commence on April 16, 2018,” KRA has said in a public notice.

The train services will complement the already deployed National Youth Service buses which have been operational for nearly a month now.

KRA also added that the timings for the Kikuyu services have been altered.

“We are re-adjusting our timings of the Kikuyu route to have the train depart Kikuyu station at 0600Hrs as opposed to 0610Hrs as previously scheduled,” the management said in a notice.

The train is scheduled to arrive in Kahawa at 0840Hrs and depart at 0900Hrs, and arrive in Nairobi  at 1020Hrs.
