Senate Minority Leader Cleophas Malala on Tuesday caused a light moment in Parliament after he sensationally claimed that the brain capacity of ten MPs was equivalent to that of a single senator.
Malala, who is also the Kakamega Senator, was contributing on a debate in the senate regarding representation.
"We will be passing a constitutional amendment to abolish constituencies so that we only have senators to represent the counties."
"I have come up with a scientific formula which shows that the brain capacity of 10 MPs is equal to that of one senator," Malala stated amid uproar from his senate colleagues.
Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki did not ask Malala to substantiate or withdraw the controversial statement.
The two houses of Parliament have been involved in perennial turf wars since 2013 when the new bicameral Parliament was introduced.
