Head of sensitive police department dies after his car was swept by floods

The head of the Diplomatic Police Unit Charles Kyale Mwau on Monday evening died after his car was swept away by a flooded river in Makueni County.

Mwau was driving along the Sultan Hamud-Kasikeu road in the company of his brother.

Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim stated that the two were involved in an accident at Kaluku River Bridge after the police boss’ car was swept away by the swollen river.

The County Commissioner did not divulge much information citing the senior position held by the deceased officer.

The two bodies were, however, flown to Nairobi later in the day.

The country has in the past four weeks been grappling with the problem of heavy rains that have brought about other calamities.
