Kitale Catholic Bishop Maurice Crowley’s appointment as Bishop of Eldoret region was on Tuesday approved by Pope Francis, nearly a month after the death of Bishop Cornelius Korir to take up his position in Eldoret.
Pope Francis’ representative to Kenya, Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo, noted it that may take time to find the right person because of the nature of the process.
Already he has written to the diocese on Crowley's appointment to oversee church activities in Eldoret
"I now have the major task of looking for a new bishop. It will not be easy," said Balvo.
This means that Crowley will be the apostolic administrator of the vast Eldoret diocese until a new bishop is named by the Pope.
Father William Korir, Vicar General of the diocese, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, following their announcement of a temporary appointment at Korir's burial.
