NTSA bans night travel after horrific Migaa crash

The transport body has been forced to take action.

The ban applies to all long distance public service vehicles and will be effective from 31st Dec 2017.

This move comes after 36 people died in a horror crash on Sunday morning at the Migaa blackspot on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.

The accident occurred 10 kilometres from the infamous Salgaa blackspot at 3 am involving a Nairobi-bound bus and a trailer. The bus belonging to Matunda Sacco is said to have been travelling from Busia and was speeding on the wrong lane causing it to ram into the trailer leaving over 30 people dead.

The ban comes 3 years after NTSA issued a Legal notice restricting night travel for PSV vehicles in a bid to curb the worrying rise of road accidents during the festive season.
