Guns shots have rendered air around troubled Moi Girls’ School when Nairobi County squad invaded the area to demolish illegal structures around the school fence in a bid to boost security at the school.
Police have been forced to fire shots in the air to disperse a hostile crowd that was opposed to the demolition of structures.
The contingent of armed police officers was deployed at the school on Tuesday morning to oversee the demolition of the structures by City Hall officials.

The demolition follows a vow by Kilimani Area police chief Michael Muchiri to improve security at the institution, in the wake of investigations which are ongoing to unearth the rapist who wrecked terror on at least two female students Saturday night.
The school was closed on Sunday for a week after a student was raped in one of the hostels. Armed police officers have been stationed at the school since then.
The operation to demolish the structures was conducted under tight security that saw the road leading to the area blocked despite resistance by residents.
Meanwhile, all male staffers at the school have been ordered by DCI to submit their DNA samples to the government chemist for analysis in the latest turn of investigations.
