At least 36 people were on Tuesday morning rushed to Mwingi Level 5 hospital after a nasty accident on Mwingi-Garissa road.
Emerging reports indicate that the Wajir bound bus rolled at Kanginga injuring 36 passengers while trying to overtake another bus.
Some students travelling back to school were among the passengers who sustained injuries.
The driver took off after the morning accident and is still at large.
Confirming the incident, Mwingi Central OCPD John Nyamu stated that it could have been a case of brake failure.
However, Mr Nyamu added that the matter was now under investigations.
"The cause of the accident is yet to be established but there are allegations of brake failure," he was quoted by a local daly.
This comes days after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) banned night travel on all long distance Public Service Vehicles (PSV).
