Naomi Wawaira Karimi on Wednesday appeared before the media after Education CS Fred Matiang'i named her the top student in this year's KCSE exam.

Karimi studied at the Pangani High School and scored a straight A of 87.011 points.

Karimi is one of the 7 girls who made it to the top ten list.

Speaking to KTN News, the top student stated that she looked forward to pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, with the University of Nairobi being her top choice.

She also thanked her teachers for their dedication and encouraged her coolagues in the lower classes.

"Pangani is a good school. I want to encourage them (Pangani Girls students) that their dreams are valid and that they should never give up," the former Deputy Head girls stated.

Boys recorded a relatively poor performance with only 4 boys making it in the top twenty students' list.

On the same note, girls schools dominated the list of the best performing schools.
