Impeachment of Health CS takes new development after Jubilee MPs act
The CS is blamed for sending home KNH CEO Ms Lily Koros.

As at Wednesday 4pm, at least 124 MPs mostly women drawn from Jubilee, who were attending a post-election seminar in Mombasa, had signed the motion.
This means that already the signed signatures could see the CS bundled out of office, after they surpassed the required number of signatures to initiate her removal. So far, the signatures have surpassed the desired 117 MPs, which represents a third of the 349 members.
“We are progressing well and members from across the political dived have signed the petition. It will be the first matter the House will deal with when we resume sittings,” Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi said in Mombasa on Wednesday.

Misconduct
The steamy petition has accused the former Cabinet Secretary for Youth, Gender and Public Service of “abuse of office and cross violation of rules and regulations.”
Just last week on Friday, nearly a week after she took office, the CS ordered Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Lily Koros to take compulsory leave, in what the petitioners now say was unprecedented move.
She has been faulted for failing to consult with the Hospital management prior to taking the decision to send the CEO on leave.

Ms Koros and an officer in charge of clinical affairs were sent home to pave way for investigations.
Fair hearing
Meanwhile, the National Assembly’s committee on Health has said it will open an inquiry into the confusion at Kenyatta National Hospital. The team quipped that all players in the botched surgery at the KNH will be given time to express themselves before it, ahead of the decision.
Addressing a press conference at the sidelines of the just concluded seminar, committee chairman Sabina Chege and more than 12 members called on the MPs to give her committee a chance to investigate the matter before rushing to impeach the CS.
She said her committee which will use one week to investigate the matter and will invite the CS, suspended KNH CEO Lily Koros , the doctor who performed the surgery and the board among others to shed light on what transpired

“We should not be quick to judge, let us allow investigations to take place after a week we will write a report and table it in Parliament. Colleagues should therefore give us a chance to investigate the matter,” Chege said at the press conference at Pride Inn Paradise, Mombasa.
